The Academy is a not-for-profit group whose principal aim is to teach people how to play musical instruments. The Academy has no barriers to access and is open to absolutely any member of the community. The Academy will endeavour to provide an instrument to anyone who seeks to join. The Academy aims to supply qualified teaching, both practical and theoretical, and to help the community make music in a friendly but ambitious atmosphere
Seaham Music Academy is a charity that was set up over 30 years ago. We are a community of music and education music enthusiasts who believe access to music should be for all.
With over 20 tutors, our expertise is wide-ranging able to teach a huge variety of instruments
Meeting each Saturday morning (term time), we aim to provide access to all types of music to all types of people. We provide heavily subsidised music tuition to ensure there are no barriers facing any person who would like to learn music.
Students have opportunities to learn any instrument, our current lessons are
Instruments - Guitars, Drums, Piano, Violin, Brass, Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Bassoon, Recorder
Kindermusik - nursery and primary age children introduced to music.
Choir - Seaham Academy Singers
Ensembles - Windband, Ceilidh band, String Group, Clarinet Group, Guitar group.
we are always looking for more ways to help people access music, overcoming any barriers to access.

Exam Success
February 2026: Seaham Music Academy facilitated Trinity College London examinations. Fifteen students entered and achieved all passed with 10 Distinctions and 5 Merits
